After a difficult 2025 season, Cork City will look to move up the table in the 2026 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division.
The Rebels will start their year when they face Shamrock Rovers at home in the Munster FA Turner’s Cross Stadium on Saturday, March 14th, for their first game of the season.
New boss Barry Ryan will have to figure out how to plan without striker Christina Dring, who departs after nine years with the club due to work commitments. She leaves behind an impressive 170 appearances and 31 goals for her team.
The most noteworthy new signing that Ryan has made is Canadian forward Stella Berezowski. She is moving to the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division from across the water where she was top goalscorer in the Niagara Soccer League and supporters will be hoping that she can be a regular supplier of goals.
Attacker Sophie Liston has also decided to re-join The Leesiders after taking time away to pursue her education in the United States. This is alongside Nadine Seward and Kate O’Donovan who have also made the choice to return to their former club for this 2026 season.
City have had a mixture of different results in their pre-season campaign, including a 3-0 defeat to reigning champions Athlone Town, while a Liston hat-trick saw them overcome UCC. But it is the work on the training pitch that will hopefully stand to the players.
In order to make strides forward this season, Ryan's team must push last year's tough experience into the past and focus on what they can achieve in 2026.
