Galway United will be looking to have another strong year in this 2026 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division after finishing third last time out.

Head Coach Phil Trill has brought in Amy Tierney and Cara Griffin from Treaty United, added US-born centre-back Remini Tierney and kept hold of some key players, like Eve Dossen, Kate Thompson, Isabella Beletic, Aoibheann Costello, Niamh Farrelly and Emma Doherty.

However, the crucial signing for Galway this season could just be former Shelbourne goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan. She is the reigning, back-to-back, Golden Glove winner and brings a huge amount of experience that should boost The Tribeswomen.

Galway native Costello has emerged as an important player and she has impressed in pre-season, after being awarded the 2025 Medtronic Galway Sports Stars Award and also selected in the 2025 PFAI Women’s Premier Division Team of the Year. She is sure to be a key player in Trill’s side for this 2026 season.

Galway will be kicking of their campaign on Saturday, March 14th when they travel to the UCD Bowl to face the DLR Waves. A bright start is what Trill will be asking for as that could set the standard for their season ahead.

It's clear that they have the tools needed to compete for the 2026 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division title, so will they use this to their advantage to win it for the first time in the club's history?
