Peamount United will be looking to become champions of the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division for the first time since claiming the title back in 2023.
To do this, The Peas have made a large number of adjustments to the squad. This starts with a change in management with former co-manager Emma Donohoe taking a break from football. This means Gary Seery will be in charge of the team for the new campaign.
Another big change for Peamount is dealing with the retirement of former captain and midfielder Karen Duggan. The Kilkenny native leaves behind a strong legacy with over 30 caps for the Ireland Women’s National Team, winning the Senior Women’s International Player of the Year at the FAI International Awards in 2016 and a distinguished club career in the league.
A number of other players have departed the club during this off-season including regular starters Becky Watkins, Chloe Moloney and Ellen Dolan.
To fill these gaps, Seery has signed a number of players. Amongst the new faces are Sophie Byrne and Kaitlyn Delahunty from Shamrock Rovers, Meabh Russell from Wexford, Aoife Murphy O’Connor and Ciara O’Neill from Athlone Town, Nadine Clare from DLR Waves and the return of two former Peas in Orlagh Fitzpatrick and Della Doherty.
The Dublin outfit will kick off their 2026 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division season on Saturday, March 14th when they host Bohemians at 17:00 in Greenogue Park. A winning start is on the wish list but Seery will know that the season will take a lot of twists and turns.
