After a challenging 2025 season, Sligo Rovers will look to jump up the table in this year's SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division.
Ahead of the new season, Gavin Hughes has come in as Head Coach following Steve Feeney’s departure from the club. Hughes did an impressive job with Bohemians' Under-19s in the LOI Academy, so he gets to make his mark at senior level.
To enforce his side going into this upcoming season, Hughes has signed six players from the United States. These include defenders Sabrina Hillyer and Ella Karolak, as well as midfielders Natalie Yoo, Cara Jordan, Manu Baptista Filipe and Sydney Stephens. This strengthens the squad with oversees experience and adds a new dynamic to the Bit O’Red for the 2026 season.
Youngsters Ivana McMahon and Ava Hallinan have both signed their first senior contract with the club and they will be joined by two new signings from Bohemians in Abby Rooney and Kelsey McQuillan, while Emma Duffy has returned after a spell with Galway United.
Sligo will begin their 2026 campaign when they face title holders Athlone Town at home in The Showgrounds on Saturday, March 14th for their first game in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division.
While they have made some exciting additions to their squad, Hughes knows that they must be clever in how they approach each game in order to pick up the points required to finish higher up the table.
