Treaty United enjoyed a fast start to the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division last year but they know that an eighth-place finish fell short of their own expectations. Now they have a chance to improve on that.

Former Athlone Town captain Laurie Ryan has taken on the role to lead them for this upcoming season following the departure of former boss Seán Russell (who is now in charge at Shelbourne). This is Ryan's first experience calling the shots but there is no doubting her natural leadership qualities.

There has been a lot of change at Markets Field with Lisa Tuomi, Isabella Flocchini, Jillian O’Toole, Amy Tierney, Madelyn Robbins, Ayaka Izeka and Kate O’Donovan all moving on.

However, the standout departure is that of Cara Griffin. She was Treaty United’s longest-serving player following six seasons in Limerick but she has taken on a new challenge with Galway United.

To fill these gaps, a number of players have been introduced for the 2026 season. These include Amber Hardy, Ciara Kelly, Rola Olusola and Jodie Griffin from other SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division teams, along with Canadian striker Emma Oliphant and American-born quartet Kat Hess, Sarah Rice, Kyah Cody and Brianna Taylor.

One of the most exciting things for The Shannonsiders is the number of local players stepping up to senior level, including Clodagh Daly, Kate Jones, Madison McGuane, Ellen Goggin and Ciara Breslin. They are following in the footsteps of Katie Lawlee, who has taken over as club captain.

Treaty will officially kick off their 2026 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division season on Saturday, March 14th, where they will face last year's runner-up Shelbourne in Tolka Park - which will be live on TG4.

It will be interesting to find out how Treaty, under new management and with fresh faces in the squad, use the changes to their advantage for this season.
