After making their debut in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division last year, Waterford know that the only way is up.

It was a transition period for the club in 2025, so Head Coach Gary Hunt knows that this campaign is about embedding how they want to play and, ultimately, win. The former Waterford men’s player has kicked off this year with two new signings in Aisling Mahony and Leah O’Donoghue.

The Blues have had a tricky off-season with two of their pre-season friendlies ending in disappointment. The first was a 3-0 defeat to reigning SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division champions Athlone Town. The second defeat came to Peamount with a 4-1 scoreline after the 90 minutes were blown up. They will look to learn from these and get the results when it matters most during the season.

The Blues will kick off their 2026 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division on Saturday March 14th at home where they will face Wexford who finished fourth in the 2025 season.

Hunt and his side will look to make improvements in their overall play, which they hope will lead to bettering their four league wins and 20 goals scored last term.
