Pat Devlin was speaking to SSE Airtricity League reporter Peter Branigan after his side's beat Shelbourne 4-1 at Tolka Park on Friday night. It was a good Friday night on the northside for Cabinteely, as they dismantled Shelbourne at Tolka by four goals to one in the Dublin Derby. On a night when the hosts were paying tribute to the panel which had won the Premier Division for the club back in 1992, Cabo showed no mercy to solidify their grip on fourth place in the table. And victorious manager Pat Devlin says it was good to come away from Tolka with all three points, and he was particularly impressed by his side's first goal, scored by Joe Doyle. "It doesn't get much better than that, it was a great result." "I thought the first goal that we got was fantastic, a great break from the back." "And then a brilliant finish by Joe, one of the best goals we've scored all season." The lead lasted less than five minutes, as James English scored against Cabinteely for the second game in a row. But Devlin was happy with how his reacted to being pegged back. "We responded well to their goal, but we still weren't playing that well." "We had a little rattle with them at half-time, and I think we got a positive response in the second-half." In a tense second period, which saw no fewer than six yellow cards handed out, the visitors scored two goals in the final fifteen minutes to remove any doubt about the result. The first of these was somewhat fortuitous, as Evan Galvin's cross was deflected into his own net by Alan Byrne, but the second was a great team goal, that was finished by Christian Lotefa. Devlin says he's not thinking about how high Cabinteely can finish at the stage of the season, despite the big win on Friday, and he says that he just wants some constituency. "We just want better performances, and let's just see where that takes us." "We talked earlier in the season about top two, but now we're just focusing on each game as it comes." With the mid-season break coming up, Devlin is looking forward to what promises to be a great occasion for the club in early June. As part of their preparations for the Confederations Cup in Russia, New Zealand will play a friendly against Cabinteely at Stradbrook on June 6th. "We got the team list today, and there are players from Marseille, Ipswich, and Leeds." "It's fantastic that they're coming here, and showing us huge respect by playing a team from the First Division." "We're hoping for a full house, and I just hope they get a great reception from everyone in the Dun Laoghaire area, and the League of Ireland in general, because they deserve it."
