St. Patrick’s Athletic recorded their third league win on the bounce, coming from behind against Finn Harps who led at the break courtesy of a Nathan Boyle goal. Darragh Markey and Rhys McCabe provided the goals after the restart to ensure a winning start for Manager Stephen O’Donnell.

Chris Forrester came on as a late substitute for Gary Shaw and the midfielder noted he expected nothing less from Finn Harps in a tough encounter.

“They are a good team, they will threaten in behind and they are very direct in their plays, it’s always a battle.” he said.

“It’s about if you want it more and tonight I think that was us.”

The win for the Inchicore Outfit dented Harps’ hopes of Premier Division survival and the 26 year-old noted it was a big three points, knowing what the opposition are fighting for.

“They are fighting for their survival up here, it makes the win even bigger for us.”

“They are putting their bodies on the line, they are fighting for every tackle and every inch they can get so I think that the pleasing thing from our performance, is we came out on top of that.” he stated.

Inspired substitutions paved the way for a comeback in the second half and the Former Peterborough United player expressed his delight for goalscorer McCabe.

“It is (a poor goal from a Harps perspective) and it’s a great goal from Rhys’ perspective, he hasn’t been playing a lot lately, he’s frustrated so it’s great for him to come on and it shows great character.” he said.

The three points could go a long way in helping St. Pat’s secure a European spot, as they now sit only three points off Derry City, who occupy third place and Forrester knows that every game is crucial.

“Every point is vital and we are just approaching everything now, game by game.” “We won tonight and we now have to move straight onto the next one.” he added.

Forrester spent three years at Peterborough United in England before a move up North to SPFL side Aberdeen, where things didn’t quite work out and he said he is still adjusting to being back.

“It’s been hit and miss to be honest, it’s been hard adjusting to be back, this season has been disappointing for me due to a number of reasons, which I’ve sorted now, which is a happy thing for me.”

“It’s good to be home, I’m happy to be home, I enjoy the company of the lads, I enjoy doing my job and I get to see my family a lot which is perfect for me.” he added.

“Football side of it needs to improve for me 100%, so that’s something I have to work on and keep persevering with.” he concluded
