League of Ireland joins Women's European Leagues Platform
The League of Ireland was one of 11 leagues to join the new Women's European Leagues Platform that was officially launched in Nyon, Switzerland.
Set up to support the continued growth of women's football, the Platform will help leagues to align their strategic priorities and collectively influence the future of domestic women’s club football. The Platform will foster knowledge sharing, develop collective business opportunities, and act as the leading representative body on all matters of common interest for member leagues.
The Management Board of the Platform includes Fiona McIntyre (Managing Director of SWPL), Nikki Doucet (CEO of WSL Football), Beatriz Alvarez (President of Liga F) and Anders Billström (Chairman of Elitfotboll Dam).
League of Ireland Director Mark Scanlon said: Today’s launch was a historic development for Women’s football in Europe. The League of Ireland is delighted to be part of the Women’s European Leagues platform and we look forward to working with our fellow Leagues and key stakeholders such as UEFA, the ECA and FIFPro Europe to drive forward the development of Women’s professional football in Europe."
