Bohs managed to over turn a poor first half performance and come from a goal down in the process to beat Dublin rivals St. Pat’s in a hotly contested Dublin derby.

Substitute Alex O’Hanlon opened the scoring for The Saints in a dominant first half performance, but a resurgent Bohs side hit back with three of their own from Oscar Brennan, Dinny Corcoran and Georgie Poynton, in an excellent second half to give themselves some breathing space from the bottom three.

Boss Keith Long was frustrated at what he saw in the first half from his side, saying; “We stood off Pat’s, gave them too much time on the ball and showed them too much respect.

“I’m not sure why, as the game plan all week had been to try press high and win the ball and break from there. We were off the pace.”

Following the introduction of Paddy Kavanagh at halftime and a couple of slight adjustments, Long, unsurprisingly was delighted at what his side produced to turn around the result.

“We’ve had to re-adjust things at half time and feel we came out stronger, got the early goal and felt we could kick on and thankfully we did. We were much more efficient and had a clinical edge about us.”

Man of the match, Keith Ward, with two assists stood out for particular praise following a classy second half performance.

“We asked Wardy to play higher up the pitch as a 10, not as an 8 or a 6, he was dropping too deep. When he gets the ball in that position he has the quality. He sprung Dinny Corcoran with a sublime pass to split the Pat’s defence.“
