St. Patrick's Athletic manager Liam Buckley felt his side looked comfortable throughout during their 3-0 victory over Bray Wanderers at Richmond Park on Friday night.

A brilliant first-half goal from Ryan Brennan set the wheels in motion before goals from Ian Turner and Graham Kelly, both courtesy of Conan Byrne assists, added gloss to the scoreline in the second half. Buckley felt that Pats' dominance shone through in the end.

"I thought we fully deserved our win. We played very well and we created a bucketful of chances," he said. "We had the bulk of the ball from a possession point of view although Bray had a couple of chances in the first half. Overall, I think there was only one team that was going to win it today."

Buckley spoke sympathetically of his opponents who remain marooned at the bottom of the Premier Division amid a season of behind-the-scenes turmoil.

"I feel for Bray. They've been going through the ringer over the last while. The only thing we can do is turn up and play as well as we can but obviously, they're in a difficult situation at the moment but I wish them well and I do feel for them.

With only five games remaining, Pats lie in sixth position in the table, eight points off a European qualification spot. Getting into Europe is something Buckley feels could be a stretch too far.

"We just want to win as many games as we can. Obviously we're quite a bit off a European spot from a League perspective but we've got the cup coming up next week so we'll see where that goes.

Speaking of next week's FAI Cup tie against neighbours Inchicore Athletic, Buckley added that, "We're looking forward to it. It's a great draw from an Inchicore point of view and hopefully it will be a good game."
