Cobh Ramblers secured a hard fought 1-0 victory over Wexford on Friday evening at St. Colman's Park. Ian Mylod's goal 10 minutes from time was the difference between the sides.

A cagey first half began with both teams looking to assert themselves on the match. Doyle and Slater were lively up front for Wexford but they struggled to test Hunt throughout the half. Ramblers enjoyed most of the possession but failed to create anything clear cut. Matthew Whelan was often left too isolated and as a result Ramblers couldn't muster a significant opportunity. When Whelan did get the ball he was able to create chances for Mylod and Coleman but both shot wide from distance.

The second half began in a similar vein with both teams looking for a breakthrough. Ramblers continued to dominate proceedings and missed a good opportunity when Coleman headed wide from a corner. Cobh manager, Stephen Henderson, decided to gamble and changed to a 3-5-2 formation with 20 minutes to go. It was Wexford who almost exploited this change when Doyle had a big call for a penalty turned down by the referee. Ramblers responded by going straight up the other end and finding the net. A Jason Abbott shot was spilled by Doyle and there was Mylod to tap it home. Tempers flared in the final 10 minutes with a number of yellows cards which culminated in a straight red for Wexford's O' Connor after a wild lunge. Ramblers held on to secure 3 points and move clear in 2nd place in the table.
