Sligo Rovers' recorded their second victory of the season with a hard-fought victory over Bohemians on a clear evening at The Showgrounds.

Declan McIntyre who took interim control of the first team following the departure of Dave Robertson earlier this week, will have been delighted with the start his side made.

Jonah Ayunga won the ball in midfield, and set off on a powerful run through the Bohemians defence, and finished clinically to make it 1-0 after 12 minutes.

It was Ayunga's first goal for the club. Sligo largely regained control of the game throughout the first half, with little else being created in terms of clear chances for either side.

It was a solid first half performance from the home side who led at half time. Bohemians came out with a purpose in the second half and applied a huge amount of pressure on the Sligo defence, winning multiple corners and free kicks, which were all dealt with by an excellent Sligo defence.

Sligo managed to hold out through the consistent pressure from Bohs, and managed to snatch the decisive goal after 80 mins, as Leahy scrambled the ball over the line from a Sadlier corner to make it 2-0 to the home side.

It was a hard-fought victory for Sligo, and lifts them to 8th in the table, in what was a positive response to the departure of Dave Robertson earlier this week.

The home supporters were delighted with the performance, and will hope that this may kick-start the season for the Bit O'Red.
