Waterford FC got back to winning ways with a fully-deserved 2-0 win at home to Bray Wanderers.

Sander Puri scored in the first half before Noel hunt ensured the points in the second half. Waterford FC started brightly as Stanley Aborah’s early corner kick found Rory Feely but he headed over the crossbar.

Bray Wanderers started to come back into the game on the quarter hour with a spell of possession but it was Waterford who looked most dangerous. Rory Feely linked up with Noe Baba to find the head of Sander Puri as the Blues looked to push on but his header found Noel Hunt in an offside position.

Debutant Cory Galvin fired straight at visiting keeper Evan Moran before Sander Puri failed to get sufficient contact on his attempted overhead kick from Baba’s cross. Bray Wanderers struggled to hold possession but looked dangerous down their left as Darragh Noone broke down but his ball for the advanced Kevin Lynch couldn't find its target.

The goal Waterford’s possession deserved came seven minutes before half time; Cory Galvin’s through ball set Sander Puri away and he fired past Wanderers sub keeper Mark O’Connor.

Kenny Browne went close to doubling the lead before half-time but his header was well held by O’Connor. Waterford had a goal ruled out for offside within 60 second of the second period after Noel Hunt’s tidy finish.

But Hunt wasn’t to be denied as he made it 2-0 with 18 minutes left. Rory Feely’s cross wasn’t cleared and Hunt fired at goal on the turn to deservedly get his name on the scoresheet.

Bray Wanderers were almost in just minutes later when Ger Pender made the most of a Kenny Browne mistake with Waterford keeper Niall Corbet forced to make the save as Waterford FC deservedly picked up the points.
