Saints, Galway United and Rovers the big winners in dramatic night

There was more drama in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division last night with some huge results.

St. Patrick's Athletic 3–0 Bohemians

At Richmond Park, St. Patrick's Athletic delivered a commanding performance to secure a 3-0 victory over Bohemians. Chris Forrester opened the scoring in the first half with a composed volley, setting the tone for the match. Substitute Mason Melia and Jason McClelland added late goals to seal the win. The match was played before a sell-out crowd of 5,338, the largest at the venue in over 20 years. Despite Bohemians' bright start and several attempts, they failed to capitalize and were ultimately outclassed. Forrester's performance was pivotal, earning him Man of the Match.

Drogheda United 1-2 Shamrock Rovers

Shamrock Rovers showcased resilience in their 2-1 comeback victory against league leaders Drogheda United. Conor Keeley gave Drogheda the lead, but Rovers responded with goals from Aaron Greene and Graham Burke. The match's climax came in the 96th minute when Rovers' goalkeeper Ed McGinty conceded a penalty after fouling Luke Heeney. McGinty redeemed himself by saving the spot-kick, preserving the win for his team. This victory marked back-to-back wins for Shamrock Rovers.

Galway United 1–0 Waterford

In a tightly contested match at Eamonn Deacy Park, Galway United edged out Waterford with a late goal. The first half saw limited clear-cut chances, with Galway having a penalty appeal dismissed in the 16th minute. As the game progressed, Galway began to assert themselves, and their persistence paid off in the 80th minute when Vince Borden headed home from another set piece for the Tribesmen in a corner. This victory prevented Waterford from claiming the top spot in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division. Moses Dyer was named the standout player for Galway United.

Shelbourne 1–1 Cork City

At Tolka Park, Shelbourne and Cork City played out a 1-1 draw. Cork City, managed by Tim Clancy, took the lead early in the second half through Ruairí Keating after a deflection. Despite battling illnesses in the squad, Shelbourne's Evan Caffrey equalized with a well-timed volley, earning Damien Duff's side an important point amidst a tough league race. Both teams had further opportunities but couldn't find a winner, leaving Shelbourne within two points of the top spot in a tightly contested league.
