SSE Airtricity League side Shelbourne have tied down impressive young talent Alex Cetiner on a two-year deal with the club.

Cetiner impressed during pre-season and in the Premier Division earlier this season after stepping up from the U-19 squad.

The 18-year old has progressed through the Shelbourne Academy and opening his account for the senior side in last Friday's 4-0 friendly win over UCD AFC.

Speaking to shelbournefc.ie, Alex said: “I joined the academy when I was 15 and felt welcome from day one. The coaches and staff have helped me improve from the start until this moment,” he said.

“Ian (Morris) has helped me improve myself on the pitch and off the pitch how you grow as a person, so it’s been great,” he added.

Manager Ian Morris believes Cetiner has the perfect platform to flourish at Tolka Park.

“He has come the whole way through our underage system, from our DDSL sides, into our LOI underage set up, now into our first team. Alex is the type of player that will excite our fans, he’s quick, has a trick and can score goals," Morris commented.

“We have a good group of players to keep him grounded in the dressing room. There is a fantastic leadership group here to help our young players flourish and pass on good habits."
