Ciaran Kilduff's side going strong in hunt to return to the top flight

As we enter the next series of games, the SSE Airtricity Men's First Division has delivered a compelling and competitive season, marked by standout performances, managerial shifts, and emerging talents.

Dundalk

Relegated from the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division in 2024, Dundalk has made a strong start in the SSE Airtricity Men's First Division. Under manager Ciarán Kilduff, they remain unbeaten after nine matches, with a five-game winning streak. Their solid defense and consistent performances have positioned them as early favorites for promotion powered by Dean Ebbe's goals as well as some star performances from young players like Sean Keogh and Vinnie Leonard.

Cobh Ramblers

Managed by Mick McDermott, Cobh Ramblers have shown resilience and attacking prowess. A notable 5–0 victory over Longford Town on 7 March highlighted their capabilities. Barry Coffey leads their scoring with four goals along with Cian Murphy, contributing to their strong position near the top of the table.

Wexford

Under new manager Stephen Elliott, Wexford has displayed a balanced approach. Mikie Rowe tops the league's scoring chart with seven goals, while Calum Flynn supports with four. The team's consistent performances have kept them in contention for promotion while young players like Kaylem Harnett and James Crawford have been standout performers in their push for promotion.

Treaty United

Led by Tommy Barrett, Treaty United has had a mixed start. A significant 5–0 away win against Athlone Town showcased their potential, with Lee Devitt scoring a hat-trick. Devitt's six goals place him second in the league's scoring chart and a dramatic last minute equaliser away to Dundalk was a real highlight too. The pair meet again on Friday night.

Longford Town

Under Wayne Groves, Longford Town has faced challenges but secured a crucial 3–2 win over Kerry. Aaron Doran's three goals have been vital in their campaign. Alongside Eric Yoro, other key players producing the goods for Longford Town include Goalkeeper Harry Halwax who has made some amazing saves for the Midlands Clubs. The Town are looking for a Play-Off push after a disappointing year last season.

Finn Harps

After a managerial change, with Kevin McHugh replacing Darren Murphy, Finn Harps achieved a notable 5–0 victory over Bray Wanderers. However, consistency remains an issue as they strive to climb the table.

Bray Wanderers
Managed by Paul Heffernan, Bray Wanderers have had an inconsistent start. Despite a strong squad, they suffered a heavy 5–0 defeat to Finn Harps, indicating areas needing improvement.

UCD

Under William O’Connor, UCD has struggled to find form. However, after last Saturday's 1-0 win away to Longford Town, the Students found a much needed win which puts them in the Play-Off picture again. They'll be looking for strong performances again from Ronan Finn, Ciaran Behan, Eanna Clancy and Mikey Raggett as they hunt up the table.

Athlone Town

Athlone Town has endured a difficult season, with a four-game losing streak and a 5–0 home defeat to Treaty United. The managerial position remains vacant following Dario Castelo's departure. Much fancied at the start of the season, they had signed some big names, so the position is an attractive one for an ambitious Manager to take the realms.

Kerry FC

Kerry FC continues to face challenges in their campaign, with a narrow 3–2 loss to Longford Town highlighting their struggles. Luke Palmer's three goals have been a positive aspect of their season and his brace against Athlone Town last weekend shows a real sign of life for the Munster outfit who have big ambitions for the remainder of the season.
