Tommy Barrett says it was possible his team peaked too early against Sligo Rovers at the weekend.  The Limerick boss was as surprised as anyone else to see his side take an early two goal lead in this FAI Cup tie, after Karl O’Sullivan’s expert brace.  This was as good as it got for the First Division outfit as Rovers scored six without reply to progress to the last eight.  While Limerick’s task was made no easier by red cards for Shaun Kelly, Clyde O’Connell and former Sligo midfielder Jason Hughes.  Barrett said the numerical disadvantage played its part, but believed going ahead so early gave Sligo the kick they needed to come back into the tie.  “It is a difficult defeat to take considering we were two up”, he admitted.  “We started the game really well and we probably woke them up a bit by scoring too early!  “We came up with a plan to counter-attack and they were two fantastic finishes from Karl. He just needs to do that more often.  “But In fairness to Sligo they upped the tempo after we went two up and that did a lot of the damage.”  Barrett did have kind words for his goalkeeper Jack Brady who despite conceding six, did pull off a number of impressive stops throughout.  “Jack has been excellent all year”, he said.  “When you lose three players, you’re wide open and he’s been busy. It could have been a lot worse for us.”
