Interim Longford Town boss Daire Doyle admitted he had mixed emotions after their no score draw with Cabinteely in the first leg of the First Division promotion/relegation play-off. The Midlanders have yet to beat their Dublin opponents in four games so far in 2019. But Doyle stressed they are confident going into the second leg next Friday at the City Calling Stadium. “We’re positive going into next week. But disappointed it was a nil all draw,” he said after Friday’s first tie at Stradbrook. “We’ve come into the dressing room slightly disappointed. Not in the performance but in the result possibly. In the first half, had we been a bit more ruthless and took our opportunities to get shots on goal rather than squaring it back or taking an extra touch, we could have been a couple up.” He went to stress, “Cabinteely were dangerous at times. That’s something we’ll have to be careful and mindful of coming into next week. Obviously, we’ll want to counter that. And stop their dangerous moments so we can continue to play the way we want to play. The ‘Town' had claims for a goal early in the first half off Dylan Grimes corner. “Whether it went over the line – we’ll look at replays, we’ll look at videos to see if it did. But at the end of the day, it’s no goal. We may as well forget about it. But possibly it went in from what I’ve been told” stated Doyle. As a former Cabo player and coach, the 38-year-old will now try and plot their downfall in the return fixture. “We’ll look to take the game to them next week. How they set-up, we’ll see. What we’ll come up against next week, I don’t know. But we’ll be prepared either way. We’ll be focusing on our game; how we’re going to play – with and without the ball. It’s about control – that’s the main word.”
