In a season which started so brightly, Bray Wanderers were hit with a number of off-field issues to eventually finish in 6th position.

Despite the progress made from the season before where they were fighting relegation, the Seagulls looked set to challenge the European spots after their impressive early season form. Wins over St. Patrick's Athletic, Derry City, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers in the opening months of the season raised hopes of a European finish.

The likes of Gary McCabe, Aaron Greene and Keith Buckley proved to be impressive signings for Harry Kenny but as the season wore on, results began to slide. Star player Dylan Connolly was sold to Dundalk as a number of off-field issues hit the club and Bray claimed a mid-table position in the league.

Star Player: Aaron Greene

The former Limerick striker netted 12 goals during the campaign and was one of the league's star players. Strong, athletic and direct, Greene was a class act.

What they need for 2018

A manager: Harry Kenny left the club at the end of the 2018 season so Bray have to find someone who can progress the club to the next level.

Cup Run: Bray were knocked out of the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup by eventual winners Cork City in the first round of the competition. With a more favourable draw, a cup run would be good for the club.

Realistic Targets for 2018

Avoid Relegation: In a 10-team Premier Division, they'll be no place to hide for any side and Bray have got to make sure they finish out of the bottom two.
