A look at Bray Wanderers ahead of the 2024 SSE Airtricity Men's First Division

Bray Wanderers come into the 2024 season on the back of a disappointing year in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division last campaign and will be looking to get back into promotion contention this year.

Ian Ryan took over as Head Coach in the Carlisle Grounds as one of the most promising coaches coming into the game and although there were good glimpses at points last year, he will be looking for a big improvement next season.

Despite the challenges, Ryan must be pleased with his recruitment so far in the off-season as the likes of Shane Griffin, Killian Cantwell, Jimmy Corcoran, and Evan Osam coming in to bolster their chances.

With Shane Griffin and Killian Cantwell having enjoyed promotion with Waterford in 2023, the pair will once more be looking to bring that quality to help challenge Cork City for the top spot.

With Dane Massey retiring after last season, bringing in Evan Osam ensures there is quality on the left-hand side of the Bray defence.

Meanwhile, promising young goalkeeper Jimmy Corcoran arrives from Cork City bringing a solid option to an important position for the Seagulls and for any team looking to build a team aiming for promotion.

As well as the new arrivals, Bray have kept hold of the services of Ben Feeney and the “Cole Machine” Cole Omorehiomwan who were both key figures in last year’s campaign.

Two new additions as well that may provide an extra boost come in the form of Shamrock Rovers young stars Kieran Cruise and Freddie Turley arriving on loan from Tallaght.

The bright promise added to the likes of an improving Harry Groome in the ten role should add a nice mix for Ian Ryan’s new squad.

Some more new arrivals will more than likely come in before the start of the season but there will be no doubt that Bray’s ambition will be to challenge up the top end of the table.

Last season’s finish - 7th
