Shamrock Rovers' marquee mid-season signing Dylan Watts grabbed his first strike for his new club, recorded an assist for Gary Shaw’s clincher and scooped the television Man of the Match of award.

Understandably, the midfielder was pleased after the match. “It was a good to get the goal. To get the award is a great, first game (at home).”

Watts acknowledged that the Hoops did not have matters all their own way. “It was a tough game out there tonight. First-half we didn’t really get going but in the second-half we showed how good we are.”

The result from Limerick further brightened the mood. “Waterford slipping up tonight is a massive bonus for us. All we can do is concentrate on every game and try to win every game from now to the end of the season.”

Watts has quickly settled into the Tallaght set-up. “We get it down. We look to play. We’re on a really good run at the moment and hopefully it will continue.”

Hoops skipper Ronan Finn reflected on just another night of taking care of business. “It was a big game for us. We knew coming off the back of the result last week we needed to push on.”

Finn agreed that the first half wasn’t up to the standards Rovers have set themselves. “After quite a sloppy first half, we played well second half and deserved the win.”

As usual, some words were exchanged at the break. “We just needed to pick it up. We were a little sluggish. We’ve had a few games lately but we just weren’t really at the races. Second half our tempo was quickened and we got our goals.”

Another win and another clean sheet ensure morale is high in the Shamrock Rovers dressing room. “We are playing well we’re confident. We’ve to keep going. There’s a lot of football left and we’ve got to keep trying to reel Waterford in.”
