Wexford manager Damien Locke was delighted to come away from Stradbrook with all three points on Friday night.
Eoin Porter came on for the injured Mark Slater inside five minutes, but it proved to be a positive for the Slaneysiders as he scored the only goal of the night to send the points back to Ferrybank.
Speaking to SSE Airtricity League reporter Peter Branigan, Locke said the team is beginning to gain confidence.
"It's the first time we've put two results together, back to back, all season.
"I think tonight, in the first-half, was the best we've played all season.
"It was a great win considering the young players we had on show."
One of those young players was debutant Dean Kelly, whose arrival was only confirmed on Wednesday morning.
"He showed exactly what he's about tonight. I thought he was instrumental running forward, especially considering it was his first senior game.
"There was no fear in him, and I thought he was very creative when he got on the ball.
With the club currently bottom of the table, Locke says the aim is to pick up points.
"This was our first away win of the season.
"We have to concentrate on ourselves, and one of our targets is to get off the bottom of the table.
"It's been very good since the break."
And the Tralee native says that this is a long term project for him, as he aims to bring some of the young players on.
"Corey Chambers is 18, Conor Sutton is 19, Eoin Porter is 17, Danny Doyle is 17, Dean Kelly played his first game tonight at 19 years of age.
"We're building for the next year or two, but already those boys have shown us that they are able."
