Karl Sheppard admits it was two points dropped rather than one point gained as Cork City were held to a scoreless draw by Bohemians at Turner’s Cross on Friday night.

City are now without a win in their last six SSE Airtricity League Premier Division matches, seven in all competitions following this stalemate with third-placed Bohs.

But speaking to reporters after the match, Sheppard insisted it was still a proper Cork performance even if they didn’t secure the victory.

“It’s two (points) lost, we always want the three points but we’re not disappointed in the sense that the performance was there,” said the striker.

“You could see that with the crowd behind us and everything, to a man I think everyone put it in tonight and each player can go home and look in the mirror and say you know what that was a proper Cork performance. It was a good performance from everyone and we move on to Thursday.

“The last couple of games, Derry was what we would call from our own selves a very poor performance from us, a performance that was nowhere near our standards.

“But I thought the lads went up to Finn Harps and put in a good shift and tonight was even better again.

“Things are going in the right direction, you can see that the team is ticking along nicely now but we just want to start picking up the wins and climb up the table.”
