Following yet another star performance, Bohs winger Kevin Devaney spoke of his jubilation at the 5-0 victory over relegation rivals Limerick at Dalymount Park and whether these three points see them safe for another season.

“Absolutely delighted with that win. We knew how much of a huge game that was for both sides, especially after Limerick beat Waterford, and we were just delighted to come out on top and to get five makes it even better.

"I thought we played really well, once we got going and yeah, Its great to put a gap between ourselves and the bottom and have a good goal difference but we should start looking up the table rather than what’s behind us.”

The Gypsies now have a seven point cushion between themselves and tonight’s opponents, and have a huge 30 goal advantage in the goal difference column if it came down to it, but the level headed 27 year old wasn’t counting his chickens just yet, going onto say: “I wouldn’t say we are safe just yet no, we are in a good position to kick on but we need to put a run of wins together.

"Inconsistency has been a big frustration for us this season, we’d win one, then lose one etc. but we have been playing well. We just need to put a winning run together and make sure we are safe.”

With his pace and direct dribbling style, its easy to see why the fans have taken to him so easily, but scoring goal of the season contenders against St. Pats and Bray Wanderers will make winning over the fans a bit easier.

Even though tonight’s goal was a relative tap in, in comparison, it was all about being in the right place at the right time and showing desire to get in the box from a wide position.

“I think getting the first goal really helped settle us. They had a big chance a little earlier, which could have turned the game, but once we got in front and start playing our game, we didn’t hold back and just kept going.”

Having had a spell previously at Bohs from 2012 – 2014, then rejoining from Galway United before the start of this season, the Sligo native capped off a wonderful performance with not just the opening goal but adding two assists also, spoke of his time so far this season.

“It was really frustrating at the start of the season, I think I missed something like 10 out of the opening 12 games with injury, but once I got back fit and got a run in the team, I’ve been really enjoying it.

"Adding goals now too which is always a bonus. So yeah I’m loving it so far and just want to do well for the team and the fans and be as successful as possible.”
