A bitterly disappointed Keith Buckley spoke of his immense frustration following his sides 1-1 draw with holders Cork City.
Cork equalized in controversial fashion from the penalty spot through Kieran Sadlier just minutes from time to ensure they took the tie back to Turners cross after Dinny Corcoran had opened the scoring.
Darragh Leahy looked to get the ball first but also caught substitute Conor McCarthy high as he tried to clear and tenacious midfielder Buckley couldn’t hide his emotions afterwards.
“I still don’t think it was a penalty, now that the dust has settled. I was really close to it and Darragh looked to get the ball first, but there was a inevitable clash.
"It was a genuine attempt from both players and both had eyes for the ball so I don’t know what else to say really.”
Buckley, who put in an immense performance picking up loose balls, not letting the visitors settle and moving the ball quickly throughout, picked up the man of the match award but felt it was of little consolation.
“It’s nice to get obviously but would much rather be going to the final, we’re all gutted in there. We feel like we did enough to win the game.
"They started well in fairness but we grew into the game and played most of the football and created the chances. Kev (Devaney) smashed the bar and we had two good chances at the start of the second half so tough to take and I’m gutted for the lads.
“But we’ll regroup with a tough game against Waterford to come so we’ll focus on that to keep the good momentum going.
"We've been on an excellent run lately, we’re still unbeaten I suppose and we’ll look to book our spot in the final when we go down to Cork in the replay. We’ll play with no fear, and as everyone has seen, we’re well capable."
