Gary Cronin is set to become a father again this week but all he is thinking about is Wexford FC.

He watched his side pick up six points in four days in contrasting fashion; spanking Athlone Town 0-5 on Friday before recovering to record a 2-1 triumph over Galway United - the first time that the Seagulls had managed to avoid defeat having conceded the first goal.

Although it may have made tough viewing in the early stages on Monday, Cronin hopes that the come-from-behind success will galvanise his troops.

"Galway came with an organised gameplan and their intensity levels were much higher than ours which was disappointing. We've played our best football here but we were on the back of a really good result on Friday but we weren't put under the pressure (on Friday) that Galway put us under on Monday in the first half. We had a few choice words at half time and the fact that you just brought up (hadn't come from behind) was brought up at half time. It was time to man up and grab the game and come from behind. We'd have five defeats and we haven't scored in any of them. In many respects, the way it happened and the way it turned out it probably good for us because we've had to come from behind and we've won the game. We were much better in the second half. Delighted to get the win."

Wanderers now face the prospect of a home tie with Wexford and a visit to Cobh, with an EA Sports Cup tie with Waterford sandwiched in-between and the tiring fixture list is testing Cronin's squad.

"We're taking it game by game at the minute. We have this two-week period where we have four league games and a cup game so we've a lot going on and we have to manage the players and the squad. There's going to be changes and rotation; that's the way it is. We've had a disappointing run; we've been stop-start, stop-start and consistency has been a problem for us but hopefully this is the start of us putting something together up until the break."

As for his predictions on the First Division?

"The league is crazy as everyone knows. We've won two on the bounce and all of a sudden we're four points off top. It'll be tight all the way."

It'll give him plenty of food for thought on all those upcoming night feeds.
