Limerick winger Chiedozie Ogbene has completed his move to English Championship side Brentford FC for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year old has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the London side after impressing Brentford boss Dean Smith on trial at the club.

The former Cork City U19 scored 10 goals for the Shannonsiders last term after he moved from Turner's Cross in search of regular first-team football at Markets Field. Ogbene was also one of the stand-out players for Cork City U19 during their UEFA Youth League campaign where they played HJK Helsinki and AS Roma.

Dean Smith, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “We have been monitoring Chiedozie for quite a while and we like what he can bring.

“He came over to train with us and we could see that his personality and character ticked all the boxes for us. We are looking forward to working with him and seeing how he develops.”
