SSE Airtricity League Champions and FAI Cup holders Cork City are getting their business done early as they announce the signing of Colm Horgan.

The former Galway United defender has signed a two-year deal at Turner's Cross following the 2017 season where the Tribesmen suffered relegation to the First Division.

Horgan was ever-present for Galway last season and joins the Rebel Army as Cork announce a number of new signings following their FAI Cup final win over Dundalk on Sunday.

Sligo Rovers defender Tobi Adebayo-Rowling and Derry City midfielder Barry McNamee has also signed for John Caulfield's side this week as Cork look to strengthen ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign in the 2018 season.

Cork have also seen a number of players commit their future to the club as Jimmy Keohane, Gearoid Morrissey, Karl Sheppard and Alan Bennett have all signed new deals with the club in the last two weeks.

On the signing of Colm Horgan, City boss John Caulfield said: "Colm has been with Galway for the last number of years and he can play right across the back four.

"He is versatile, tenacious and he is a great crosser of the ball. He has a tremendous attitude; we had Daryl here before, he had a great attitude and Colm is the same.

"Again, he is another player we are bringing in that we feel is coming into his prime."
