Cork City manager Neale Fenn has confirmed two of the loan players are set to return to the club.

The Leesiders returned to training this week ahead of a possible return of the SSE Airtricity League season set to be confirmed in the near future.

Fenn had several players on loan at the club including Kyron Stabana from AFC Wimbledon,  Joe Redmond from Birmingham City, Deshane Dalling from QPR and Joseph Olowu from Arsenal. Stabana has since left his parent club which implies two of the remaining three players will return to the club.

Whilst Fenn stopped short of confirming which players were returning in an interview with the @corkcityfc official channel, the manager expressed his delight with being able to welcome the two players back.

"We're hopeful that two of the loan players will be making a return and we'd be delighted to welcome them back," admitted Fenn.

"A big thank you to the clubs for allowing them to come back. We can't say who they are yet as it hasn't been done but it's a great relief."

A number of SSE Airtricity League clubs have returned to training ahead of a potential start date for the remainder of the 2020 season.

Having been out of training and football during the lockdown period, Fenn spoke of his delight to get back to training and working with the players once again.

"Never been more happy to be standing out in the rain. A light day to return but it was just a way of getting back to it," continued Fenn.

"It's been hard for them mentally with no football but you can't replicate football and without access to gyms, it will take a bit of time. We're just easing them back into it.

"We just couldn't wait any longer. We know the season is coming back, it could be at the end of July so we just have to get ourselves sorted. Teams have been in training for a while now and we couldn't be left that far behind.

"It's not ideal preparation of course but the lads are fit enough, it's just making sure they don't break down with injuries during this period."
