Sligo Rovers legend Raffaele Cretaro enjoyed a special night at the Regional Sports Centre as he moved into a special group of players.

Cretaro's first-half strike against Waterford earned Rovers an important and much-needed point in the Premier Division ahead of their home game against Bray Wanderers on Monday night.

His goal put his total League of Ireland tally up to 70 goals since he made his goal-scoring debut for Sligo Rovers in a 3-0 win over Monaghan United at Gortakeegan on September 3rd, 2000.

It was his 417th appearance for the Bit o'Red which puts him just 16 appearances away from Tony Fagan's record of 431 League of Ireland appearances for the club.

Most importantly, Cretaro was previously tied with three other players on 465 appearances in the all-time list but has now cemented his place in the top 20 League of Ireland appearance list.

Cretaro moved past Gino Lawless, Alex Ludzic and Johnny Walsh to move into 18th spot in his 19th season of League of Ireland football with 466 appearances.
