On This Day in the LOI – 11th April

11th April 1948: Shamrock Rovers defeated Drumcondra by 2-1 in the FAI Cup Final played at Dalymount Park. Benny (Rosie) Henderson put Drums ahead in 18th minute but goals from Paddy Coad (45) and Eugene Kirby (75) secured victory for the Hoops and avenged their defeat by the same opposition and score line of two years earlier when Coad and Henderson also scored. The attendance was 33,812.

11th April 1997: Dylan Watts was born on this day in Dublin. The current Shamrock Rovers midfielder came through the ranks at UCD AFC before he signed for Leicester City. He played for the U-23s side for the Foxes before he was loaned to Bohemians in 2018. He impressed during his loan spell at Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers snapped him up on a free transfer in July 2018.

On This Day in Irish Football - 11th April 

11th April 1974: Matt Holland was born on this day in Bury, England. The former Republic of Ireland international made 49 appearances for the national side between 1999 and 2005, scoring five goals. He made his debut in against FYR Macedonia and he scored his first goal in a World Cup qualifier against Portugal in 2000. He played for West Ham United, Farnborough Town, AFC Bournemouth, Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic.
