April 9, 1927: Drumcondra (then a Leinster Senior League club) won the FAI Cup when they defeated Brideville by 1-0 (a.e.t.) in a replay match at Shelbourne Park. The winning goal was scored by Johnny Murray in the 105th minute. The original tie ended as a 1-1 draw at Dalymount Park on St. Patrick’s Day. Drumcondra are one of only two non-League clubs to win the FAI Cup (Alton United from Belfast in 1923) and they achieved a unique double that season as they were the inaugural Intermediate Cup winners.

Dundalk took an early second-half lead through Jimmy Hasty but Rovers struck back with an equaliser from Johnny Fullam followed by two goals from Paddy Ambrose. Fullam had played in the international match against Spain the previous night also at Dalymount Park.
