24th June 1994: The Republic of Ireland lost by 2-1 to Mexico in their 1994 World Cup Finals group match played at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. It was Ireland’s 300th senior international match and was attended by 61,219 spectators. Luis Garcia scored in the 43rd and 65th minutes of the match with substitute John Aldridge reducing the arrears with six minutes remaining to be played.

24th June 1995: Danish side Odense BK defeated Bohemians by 2-0 at Dalymount Park in a UEFA Intertoto Cup group match.

24th June 2006: Shelbourne defeated FK Vetra of Lithuania by 4-0 in a UEFA Intertoto Cup First Round Second Leg match at Tolka Park to progress on a 5-0 aggregate score. Jason Byrne (66, 90+2), Ollie Cahill (36) and Glen Crowe (69) scored as Shelbourne recorded their record win in a European match which also equalled the record for a League of Ireland club at that time.
