Derry City goalkeeper Ger Doherty believes the confidence is back in the Candystripes squad after the 0-0 draw with Dundalk.

Kenny Shiels side built on their 3-1 win over Shamrock Rovers on Friday with an impressive point at the home of the SSE Airtricity League Champions on Tuesday.

The results see Derry maintain 4th spot in the SSE Airtricity League with Bray Wanderers two points ahead of the Candystripes on 26 points.

Despite being at the home of the Champions, responding to whether he was delighted with a point, Doherty believes they could have come away with more.

The Derry stopper said: "No, not really. I thought we did well enough in the game and dealt well with the situations that they got us under at times.

"We might have lost that game a few weeks ago but I think you can see that the confidence in the team is back and we're playing really well.

"We knew what we were going to get from Dundalk who are always strong but I wouldn't say we're delighted with a point, we could have got more.

"We knew they were going to come at us and try and dominate the ball. But, we knew we had the players who can hit them on the break and we had a number of chances in the end."
