The Football Association of Ireland is delighted to announce a landmark partnership with leading Irish website Extra.ie as the official media outlet for the brilliant new eLOI featuring all 20 League of Ireland clubs.
Announcing the exciting new partnership today, League of Ireland Director Mark Scanlon welcomed the addition of Extra.ie to the team leading the FAI’s entry into the booming world of eSports.
“We are really excited about the potential for the eLOI and already the reaction from all our League of Ireland clubs has been phenomenal so this new partnership is a great addition to our offering and our growing brand,” said Mark Scanlon.
“Extra.ie have been valued partners of the FAI in recent years with their sponsorship of the FAI Cup and this new relationship confirms their commitment to Irish football. Our new eLOI League is already off to a great start and this latest news is a real boost for all concerned.”
At the announcement of the Extra.ie partnership with eLOI, Adam Lacey, Sport Editor of Extra.ie, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the FAI and the League of Ireland clubs in this exciting new venture. Our team is looking forward to bringing coverage of all the games and results to our two million unique users.
“Globally, eFootball has a following in the tens of millions and the opportunity for League of Ireland clubs to participate and generate income at a time when they can’t have supporters in their grounds is great for Irish soccer. All of us at Extra.ie are determined to grow support for eLOI and ensure its success for the FAI and for Irish clubs.”
All 20 clubs from the SSE Airtricity Premier and First Divisions have committed to the exciting eLOI competition which kicked-off this week with live broadcasts from Game Day 3 all the way to the final, scheduled for May 10th, 2021, in a tournament that comes under the official League of Ireland umbrella.
The eLOI also joins the EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Global Series tournament circuit as an Official League Qualifier on the Road to the FIFAe World Cup, with the top two players qualifying into the FIFA Global Series PS4 Playoffs Play-In Stage to be held later this year.
Additionally, the winner of the new eLOI will go on to be one of two designated representatives to play for the Republic of Ireland in the FIFAe Nations Series 2021 when they will go head-to-head against the top FIFA esports nations in qualification in May 2021, playing to reach the Grand Finals in the Autumn.
The second Republic of Ireland player chosen to represent their country in the FIFAe Nations Series will qualify via an open online tournament, the FAI eCup which will run across Ireland on April 1st, April 8th, and April 15th with the winner of this qualification series playing in May’s qualifiers.
Exclusive interviews, match previews, reports, fixtures and results from the eLOI will be available first at www.Extra.ie
Round two of the eLOI takes places on April 13 with the full fixture list available at www.eloi.ie
