SSE Airtricity League Premier Division side Shamrock Rovers have bolstered their squad further after they announced the signing of Jack Byrne from Kilmarnock.

The 22-year old winger joins Rovers from the Scottish Premiership side following spells with Manchester City, Cambuur, Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic and Oldham Athletic.

The former Ireland U21 international made 13 appearances for Noel King's side having made his U21 debut in 2014 in a friendly against Qatar.

It is the latest signing at Tallaght Stadium as the club announced the signing of Aaron McEneff from Derry City earlier in the off-season and a number of players who've re-signed with the club.

Rovers will be looking to mount a serious SSE Airtricity League title challenge this season and Head Coach Stephen Bradley believes Byrne will add another quality option to his squad.

He told shamrockrovers.ie; "It’s going to be a very good signing for us. Jack has an unbelievable amount of ability.

"He makes things happen in possession and he’ll add goals to our game by scoring and creating. I don’t think you can have too many of those in your team."

Shamrock Rovers began their pre-season on Friday and Byrne linked up with the squad today ahead of the 2019 season.
