New Waterford FC midfielder Dessie Hutchinson insists his side were unlucky not to pick up all three points on Friday night as the Blues had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw against Bohemians.

Midfielder Hutchinson joined Waterford after a spell with Brighton and Hove Albion and says after coming from behind again Bohs, they were unlucky not to grab all three points.

“We were sloppy in the first half and then second half we dominated and were unlucky not to get a winner,” Hutchinson said after the game.

“But that’s football. I thought in the second half we really dominated and really should have ended up winning the game. But coming from 1-0 down at half time, we were probably happy enough to come away with the point.”

The midfielder was delighted to get back on the pitch after a long time out.

“It was great to be back on the pitch,” he said. “It’s probably only my second game in about six months so I was happy to get out there. It was a tough going first half, kind of hectic, but I felt I got into it then and the second half settled down a bit and I went from there.”

Next up for the Blues is a home tie against Shamrock Rovers - Hutchinson says all eyes are already on the game.

“It’s important we look to the next one now; Shamrock Rovers will be a big one because obviously they’re on our back so we’ll be ready and hoping to win that one.”
