An impressive and youthful Bohemians side progressed to the semi final of the EA Sports Cup with a 2-0 win over Cork City on Monday evening.  Goals from teenager Ross Tierney – making his full debut - and a Danny Mandroiu spot-kick were enough to get the job done on the night but it was the impressive midfield presence of Scott Allardice that caught the eye. The 21-year old put in a dominant performance against a relatively experienced Cork midfield. Tenacious in the tackle, pressing high up and looked to drive the team forward when in possession, in what was an all action display. It was from this exact avenue that Allardice played a major role in helping his side get the all-important breakthrough. “It was a good night, yeah. They probably had a bit more of the ball at times, but when we got the goal, we built on it and deserved the win I thought. "The thing that they are big on here at the club are getting up on the game and impacting it high up. And that’s where I won the ball, I saw Ryan “Graydo” Graydon free, slipped him in and his shot hit the bar and delighted for wee Ross Tierney following up to tapping home on his full debut, came in and done brilliant,” he added. Due to the Gypsies impressive form for most of the season, the Dundee-native has seen his time limited at Dalymount and went on to explain the situation he finds himself in at the moment. “I’ve been raging with the gaffer if I’m honest, I’ve not had many minutes at all,” he said with a wry smile, “but the lads Bucko (Keith Buckley) Levo (Conor Levingston) and Robbie McCourt when he’s come in have been doing well and is frustrating for me personally.  "But every day when we come in, we’ve been bursting every day, working hard and been ready to take our chance when it comes and thankfully we did that today.” “I Iove it here to be fair, everyone is around a similar age that they want to get something out of the game. No ego’s, no nothing and credit to Trevor (Croly) who is improving me every day.  "That’s a big part of why I’m so happy here, because I come in every day, feel like I’m developing and I get pushed all the time. For example, I come in tonight and play the full 90 minutes and I probably couldn’t have come through that even when I was playing at home because this is the fittest I’ve felt.  "Even though I haven’t had many minutes in the matches, I feel fitter than ever and, that’s testament to the work they’re putting in with us.” Dundalk, Derry City and Waterford are all potential semi final opponents but the ex-Dundee United man believes he, and his young squad have nothing to fear in the next round, going on to say: “Its been a while since Bohemians won something, too long, but we’re there in a semi final and in the mix for the cup. We’re going well in the league, we’re still high on confidence and will absolutely put the work in on the training ground so we don’t care who we get if I’m honest. We’ll take anyone.”
