Conor Keeley admitted that Cabinteely FC rode their luck to beat Shelbourne on Friday at Stradbrook to remain in second place in the SSE Airtricity League First Division. Kieran Marty Waters' first goal in two months coupled with Stephen McGuinness’ penalty save to thwart Lorcan Fitzgerald extended the Green and White’s record breaking unbeaten run to six league games. But Keeley’s two goal-line clearances were also a major factor in his side’s 1-0 victory in the Dublin derby. “I’m delighted with the win. How we won the game, I don’t know” conceded the central defender. “Being honest, at minimum Shels probably deserved a point. They could have scored three or four goals. Sometimes you get that luck. We dug deep and we’re happy with the win.” On his two vital clearances, the 21-year-old stated “That’s my job at the end of the day. I’m just happy to help out the team and get the three points.” He also believed that his team-mates rose to the occasion with Shels bringing a large travelling contingent. “Playing in front of a lot of people is always good. We’re a supposed small club. Playing Shels home or away is always a good buzz. It added to the atmosphere.” Cabo sit in second place in the standings, just a single point behind leaders Longford Town who they face next weekend in a top of the table clash at the City Calling Stadium. “It’s going to a tough game. But we’re really looking forward to it. Hopefully, we can get a result,” said Keeley.
