In-form Bohs sunk to only their third defeat of the season against a stubborn but effective Cork City side at a bitterly cold Dalymount Park. Conor McCarthys first half header was enough to steal all three points in a game of not much in the way of goalmouth action, and the frustration was clearly evident on the hosts faces at the end. “A very frustrating game tonight, I thought we weren’t at our best and can’t put my finger on why I felt like we had a lot of the ball. "But then, to go one down through a set piece is really tough to take,” said Bohs centre back, James Finnerty. “Second half, we passed the ball more and more importantly moved it quicker, but it’s tough with ten, sometimes 11 men behind the ball to break down. I thought Danny (Grant) got down the right a few times cutting the ball back and we looked a little more dangerous, just gutted we couldn’t break them down and get the equalizer in the end.” The Gypsies have conceded just five times in 15 games this season thanks to stellar performances from Finnerty and co. and are still yet to concede from open play but the 20-year old showed great maturity in digesting this performance for what it was. “Look, we’ve had a really good start to the season overall and in a good position. I don’t want excuses or to blame the busy schedule etc. "It was just one of those nights, but we won’t dwell on it or let it derail us we’ve been playing too well to let that happen. “You can see the disappointment in the lads after the game but that’s going to happen in football. We’ll dust ourselves down and get ready for a huge match next week against Dundalk, hopefully put things right then,” the ex-Rochdale and Aston Villa man said defiantly.
