Gary Cronin has admitted Bray Wanderers’ play-off chances hang by a thread after suffering their ninth SSE Airtricity League First Division defeat of the 2019 season. The Seagulls now sit in sixth place after succumbing 2-1 to Cabinteely FC on Friday in Stradbrook – their seventh away loss in ten starts this season. “It’s a massive dent obviously. We’ve dragged ourselves back into situations throughout the season. We won three on the bounce but went down to Cobh and were beaten.” The Bray boss went to reveal “Since then, we’ve only won once in five which is absolutely heart breaking to try make the play-off spot. We’re seven points behind Cabinteely now who are fourth.  "Limerick go ahead of us now after beating Longford. It’s just disappointing because we know we are better than that. Unfortunately, the results aren’t showing that.” He also stressed “Against Drogheda last week, it wasn’t a game we deserved to lose. I think we deserved to win. I think we deserved to win against Cabinteely, but we lost.” Striker Joe Doyle looks set to depart the Carlisle Grounds for America this week. Although Dean Williams has been brought on loan from Shamrock Rovers after a fine spell at Athlone Town, the Wicklow side have netted just 24 times in 19 starts. “The result was probably the story of our season so far. We’re like a broken record. Not taking chances that we create. It’s evident to see we create good chances. Unfortunately, we didn’t take them. And we’re giving up too many chances at the other end” conceded Cronin. “They were two poor goals from our point of view. (Yuta Sasaki) has done well to jink in and out. But he’s gone past three of our players without a challenge. That was disappointing.” The Wanderers supremo added “At that stage of the game, after we’d equalised, I think the feeling in the whole ground was that there was only going to be one winner. Our approach play was excellent. But unfortunately, it’s not giving us any rewards at the moment.”
