The nominations for the SSE Airtricity/SWAI Player of the Month for June have been announced.

The top two teams in the SSE Airtricity League, Cork City and Dundalk, have two players each nominated for the SSE Airtricity / SWAI Player of the Month Award.

Another positive month for league leaders Cork City has resulted in nominations for Sean Maguire and Gearoid Morrissey while Robbie Benson and Patrick McEleney are also recognised for their part in Dundalk’s resurgence in June.

Three goals from Limerick’s Chiedozie Ogbene ensured his nomination with the final nomination going to Bohemians midfielder Keith Ward.

The nominations in full are:

Sean Maguire (Cork): As well as a hat-trick against Dundalk and a brace against Limerick the Cork man has continued to lead the line imperiously.

Gearoid Morrissey (Cork): Pulling the strings in midfield and scored a brilliant winning goal against Derry.

Robbie Benson (Dundalk): Has become the key player in midfield with goals (three) and his ability to drive side forward with pace and skill.

Patrick McEleney (Dundalk): Four goals in five games - two of them goal of the season contenders - have helped Dundalk rediscover best form.

Chiedozie Ogbene (Limerick): Finding his feet after leaving Cork, his pace and directness has become a major threat for Limerick. Found the net three times last month, too.

Keith Ward (Bohemians): Has come to the fore in a Bohs side that went unbeaten last month to edge away from danger.

The winner will be announced next week.
