Treaty United forward Katie Lawlee’s love for football started at a very young age since the days spent kicking the ball around with her babysitter as a child and joining her first team at around the age of six years old.

From this young age, Lawlee knew football was the sport for her, “I knew I loved it from the very first time I played. When you enjoy it you want to play it more so that’s what made me want to go further.”
Since then, the Limerick native’s career has progressed to captaining both her country at underage level and her club in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division since the start of this season.

The rising star has represented Ireland in both the Under-17 and Under-19 squads and this is where her leadership abilities first appeared and came to the attention of the nation.

When asked if she always saw herself in this position, this is what the captain said, “Definitely not this young - I was obviously surprised to be asked but I was delighted.”

Lawlee continued in this leadership role for Treaty United for the 2026 season and has since become no stranger to leading by example for her team with a recent goal in their 3-1 victory over Athlone Town to take them into the Women’s All-Island Cup Quarter-Finals and being awarded the March Rockshore 0.0 Goal of the Month Award for her golden strike against Cork.

Lawlee’s aspirations don’t end here, she says, “I think everyone’s dream is to get to the senior team so obviously that’s a goal and doing it with an underage team makes you want to do it higher up as well.”
Since the start of this 2026 season, the striker has seen huge improvements in her side and looks forward to what’s to come as a result, “We’re definitely improving on and off the pitch and I’m really excited.”

Treaty United are currently sitting sixth in the league with three wins so far along with a strong run in the All-Island Cup getting them to the Quarter-Finals before their journey was cut short by a defeat to Bohemians.

While being captain of Treaty United’s senior team was not something Lawlee predicted, she is taking it in her stride and looks to carry her side to success this season with a cup victory on her list of goals for the year.
