Bray Wanderers manager Harry Kenny has admitted that even at this early stage of the season, the SSE Airtricity League title is Cork City’s to lose. Cork City made it eleven wins in as many games on Friday night when a Sean Maguire penalty and a Johnny Dunleavy header was enough to see the Leesiders defeat a Wanderers side, who snatched a late consolation through Derek Foran. Speaking to reporters shortly after his side’s loss, Kenny, whose side remain joint second joint, twelve points behind the league leaders but interestingly lie closer to the relegations places than to top spot, admitted it’s the Cork clubs title to lose. “After the first series of games, it’s huge isn’t it? My god, even at this early stage with 11 games gone its there’s to lose,” enthused Kenny. “But fair do’s, they’ve kept it going but in my view they’re beatable and you’ve seen that in the second half. “But you have to hold your hands up, they’re churning out the results, they’re scoring goals, they’re dangerous up around the top end of the pitch and the table doesn’t lie, they are where they are. “I’m hugely surprised, I don’t think everyone is twelve points worse off than that but saying that it is what it is, they’ve done fabulous to do what they’ve been doing. “John’s done a great job. The couple of new signings he’s got in are after making a huge difference, the big lad at the back (Ryan) Delaney and (Conor) McCormack in the middle of the pitch, they’ve done brilliant for them so fair do’s, they’ve done well.” City took the lead courtesy of an early Sean Maguire penalty and even though Kenny admitted he wasn’t entirely sure if it was a penalty, he believes his side still deserved something from the game. “Whether it was a penalty or not, I’m not too sure,” admitted the 55 year old. “But we got one like that up in Dundalk so it has come back to haunt us tonight but if he dragged him he dragged him, it was a penalty. “Second half, we sorted out a few things at half time, got our passing game going and I thought we were really good for a good half an hour,35 to 40 minutes. “I thought we dominated the game and based on that display in the second half, I thought we could have got something from the game.”
