Consistency can be key to building a title-winning squad. And that is why the re-signing of midfielder John Mountney is good news for Dundalk. The versatile player first joined the club in 2012 and has clocked up over 200 appearances in that time. Now, he is aiming to add to that total. Talks with the club convinced Mountney that he could achieve his ambitions at Oriel Park and that led to him committing his future to the club. “I’m very happy to sign the new deal, you can’t get rid of me at this stage. I’m here for another year and I’m really looking forward to getting started again in January," Mountney told Dundalk's club website. “There has been plenty of highlights since I’ve arrived at Oriel Park but I think the best of them so far has to be beating BATE Borisov 3-0 at Tallaght Stadium and please God there will be more to come again for next season. “I think we are all looking forward to getting started for next season. I’ve been keeping an eye on the news in the off season to see who we are linked with. “I think the signings so far have all been very good and will boost the squad for next year and we should be a very competitive year for us.”
