Despite shooting up the league table following his side’s come-from-behind victory over Bray Wanderers, Keith Long only gave the league table a fleeting glance.

Tim Clancy had headed the Seagulls into the lead but a brace from Dinny Corcoran handed the Gypsies a half-time which they held onto thanks to some brave defending and fine saves from Shane Supple.

It propels the Dalymount Park club up to seventh but Long won’t be overdoing the celebrations.

“The league changes every week” Long declared. “I’m sick of saying this – you can’t get too high when you win and you can’t get too low when you lose.

“We were all disappointed last week because we lose to Shamrock Rovers and we fall into the bottom three but we have to be measured in our approach.

“We’re out of the bottom three but the league table is very volatile at the moment. There’s six or seven teams (near the bottom) all under pressure to get results and I’m pleased tonight that we did.”

Victory may not have been possible without Corcoran and his return to action – and form - is something that raises a smile from his boss.

“Look at Bray, Gary McCabe has been banging in the goals for fun for them, Dinny Corcoran is similar for us. It’s vital that we keep him fit.

“He’s a proven goalscorer at this level. We have to look after him and make sure he remains on the pitch. He got his rewards tonight because he’s worked extremely hard over the six/seven weeks that he’s been out.”

Bohs will look to continue their ascent on Tuesday evening as they host Limerick FC, a side currently one place and point above them.
