Longford Town manager Neale Fenn was disappointed to leave Dublin with just a point after UCD held them to a 0-0 draw.

The visitors dominated large chunks of the game but were wasteful in front of goal and allowed ‘the Students’ to get back into it during the second half.

“Really disappointed,” Fenn said after the game. “I thought we created the better chances in the first half but we didn’t work their keeper near enough.

“Even in the second half we had some decent chances. They came back into it and had a couple of chances themselves but I think, overall, we deserved the win.”

Scoring goals has been an issue for Longford this season and Fenn is hoping he can still bring someone in to help them in that department during the transfer window.

“I think he is still a few weeks away so we might be able to do something there and if we can bring someone in we’ll look at that.”

A win would have seen Longford keep their slim hopes of winning the league alive after Waterford’s comeback win over Wexford, it looks like they will be playing First Division football again next season.

“There are lots of things that mean a team are top of the league. Obviously, Waterford are very strong – defensively and going forward. They have added a few new players into their squad which is good for them. I’m not surprised [we aren’t challenging near the top] but we could be better,” said Fenn.

“We’ve probably got a little bit too much to do this season. We are on a good little run but tonight all the teams around us won so we were probably just looking to win to put pressure on the other teams.”
