Limerick manager Neil McDonald got his first three points in charge of his new side with a battling and entertaining victory over Bohemians this evening. The ex-Blackpool boss was understandably delighted to get the first victory under his belt following a late Dan Byrne own goal, saying, “Considering we lost our first game 3-0 against the Champions, it was a fantastic response really proud of the players.” In a game that ebbed and flowed, McDonald felt his side deserved to come out on top, “I thought we bossed it right from the start but when we scored the goal we just stepped off the pace a touch and allowed them to pass and move. “I thought they (Bohs) deserved to get their goal the way they passed the ball. But in the second half I feel we dominated and could have got more, if I’m being critical but we’ll certainly take all three points in a tough away win.” Limerick opted for a 4-4-2 formation with Chiedozie Ogbene playing from the left and the Limerick boss was quick to praise his wide man who caused problems throughout the game, eventually resulting in Dylan Hayes receiving his marching orders. He continued: “I thought he was fantastic, he tormented their defence all game and in the end they understandably got frustrated which saw them go down to 10 men by tackling him when they shouldn’t have but he was excellent.” A massive three points saw Limerick pull away from the dreaded relegation zone but the boss wasn’t looking too far ahead and finished by saying “The aim is just to finish as high as we can. “Obviously were the newly promoted team so it will  be difficult, we’re not the finished article but were just taking it one game at a time.”
