Ryan McEvoy could have been accused of divided loyalties at Dalymount Park as the Drogheda United midfielder came up against his former club Bohemians. But he cut a professional figure.

Speaking after the 0-0 draw, he was frustrated at drawing another blank in front of goal. “I think that’s our fifth game in a row without scoring now, I feel like we just need one to go in off a backside or something! Especially the last three games, we’ve been really good but need that bit of luck and then we’ll go on a run, I’m sure of it.”

Reflecting on the game itself, he went onto say: “I think we edged the first half and probably should have been one up but their keeper saved really well from Marc Griffin. They probably had the better of it in the second so I think it was a case of both teams feeling the three points were there for the taking but overall, maybe a draw was fair I suppose.”

The draw keeps both Bohs and Drogheda 7th and 9th respectively in the enthralling race to avoid the drop but the 27-year-old Dubliner feels that his side have enough quality to beat the drop, stating: “We have a great group here, some real quality throughout the team. Like I said, just a bit more luck in front of goal and along with the signing of Ryan Masterson who has just come in, and looks a real handful, I think we could survive definitely. It won be easy but the last three draws have given us confidence going forward. It’s definitely all to play for.
